Skerries Chamber of Commerce and a team of voluntary advisors came together in 2013 to develop a plan for a new Heritage Park in Skerries. Members of the Chamber and volunteers in the Community wanted to develop a small park between the two commercial streets in the town.
The main funding for the project was grant aid from Fingal LEADER Partnership and Clann Credo provided the necessary finance to cash flow the work until the grant came through.
Through immense voluntary efforts, the group secured planning permission, got a lease on the site from the Council, raised funds and secured a grant to develop the park. The new park opened in January 2015 and the people in the town can now enjoy the traditional cottage, seating, pathways, bandstand and attractive landscaping.
A key challenge for many committees or organisations with plans to develop or expand their facilities is the availability of finance. Martin Scully of Skerries Chamber of Commerce said “Clann Credo provided invaluable financial help to us through bridging finance and affordable term loans, without which our project could not have been started or completed."
Clann Credo was honoured to contribute to this village enhancement project as the development of the town provides residents of the area with a much improved urban landscape which benefits the people of the town and businesses alike.
