Community loan for Signal Arts Centre

Signal Arts Centre was created in July 1990. Aiming to create a practical facility where artists can both develop their own work, and make the arts readily accessible to the local community as a resource. The group runs about 25 exhibitions each year, classes for all levels in Drawing and Painting and other crafts, they run a Society for artists, provide dark room hire, kiln hire and studio hire amongst many more activities. They have over 15 staff members, many of whom are artists.

Part of their Mission statement was to provide a permanent centre of excellence for the visual arts which can act as a resource for the Artists and general Community alike. In 2011, the building from which the group had operated for 17 years became available for purchase.  An application for loan finance was submitted to Clann Credo to help finance the purchase.

Signal Arts Centre Ltd secured finance and now operates from their own permanent home. Jim Morrisson, a Signal Arts Board Member, commented on the assistance given, “Having loan finance in place was critical to the purchase of our centre. Clann Credo supported our application by providing us with this loan finance.”

Clann Credo was delighted to be involved with this project, and to help secure the future of the Arts Centre, which has great benefits for the local and art community.
