Community loan for Kyle GAA Club
Kyle GAA Club nestles in the borderlands between Tipperary, Offaly
and Laois, although it is the latter county that the club calls home.
Founded in 1900, the club’s primary focus is hurling and they compete at both
senior and junior levels. The club serves a population of some 500 people and is
closely linked to the local primary school.
In 2005, Kyle GAA Club embarked on a major development drive and purchased a
site which has been transformed into an excellent playing pitch. However, when they
sought to further develop the club facilities. they encountered difficulties accessing
finance.
They were referred to Clann Credo and, following a thorough assessment, we
agreed to support the project. This comprised building changing rooms for teams
and referees, complete with showers. The facility also includes two rooms on the
second floor which is made available as community space or for rent by the nearby
primary school.
The project has an obvious social dividend, by upgrading both community and
sports facilities and encouraging greater participation in a range of activities.
