Community loan for Avondhu Blackwater Partnership

The Avondhu Blackwater Partnership (ABP) was formed in 2008 through the merger of two local development bodies, to ensure a more coherent and strategic delivery of key local services.

The Blackwater Partnership is responsible locally for both the Rural Development Programme (RDP) and the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme. In addition, it is charged with delivering community services known as the Blackwater Community Connect, along with the Rural Social Scheme and the Rural Transport Initiative.

Both the Rural Development Programme and the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme include strategies aimed at generating economic growth, providing support for business initiatives and crucial skills development, in rural areas. They are also intended to address issues of social exclusion and sustainable regional growth.

Clann Credo believes that the programmes and the work of the Avondhu Blackwater Partership are crucial in assisting local communities, in the Fermoy/ Mallow area to battle the impact of the downturn and chart the course of their own future development.

Location: Fermoy and Mallow, Co. Cork
