Dublin Social Inclusion Week 2010

Dublin City Council’s Social Inclusion Unit are inviting community and voluntary organisations to  participate in the 4th Annual Social Inclusion Week (17- 23 May).

The theme for this year’s Social Inclusion Awareness Week is:
"Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion". This was chosen as 2010 is the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. As with other years we will continue to highlight the work that Dublin City Council and other agencies are involved in to reduce social exclusion and poverty.

The Lord Mayor, Cllr. Emer Costello will launch this event in the Atrium of the Civic Offices on Monday the 17th May at 12 noon. There will also be an exhibition of stands in the Atrium of the Civic Offices highlighting different groups that can be excluded in society. The exhibition will display different aspects of the Lifecycle Approach to Social Inclusion. This approach looks at how people at different stages in their lives have needs to prevent exclusion from full participation in society. Children and Young People, People of Working Age, Older People and People with Disabilities all are entitled to be included.

There will also  be events in different parts of the city including a number organised by RAPID. Click here for the full list of events

In the lead up to 17TH May if you wish to get involved and organise an event to highlight work to prevent exclusion of any group please do so and Dublin City Council’s Social Inclusion Unit at socialinclusion@dublincity.ie or phone Hugh Fahey Social Inclusion Officer on 222313.
