Clann Credo Founder Nominated for WMB Award

The founder of Clann Credo, Sr Magdalen Fogarty, has been shortlisted for a 2010 Women Mean Business Award in the category Newstalk Social Entrepreneur of the Year. Other finalists in the category include: Sr Stanislaus Kennedy from The Sanctuary and Jillian van Turnhout from the Children's Rights Alliance.

As founder of Clann Credo - The Social Investment Fund, Sr Magdalen Fogarty pioneered the concept of Social Finance in Ireland. Today, 14 years, more than 200 projects and €26.4 million later, Clann Credo is the country's leading provider of loan finance to social enterprises and community projects. Earlier this year the United Nations NGO Committee for Social Development cited Clann Credo in its report as an example of an organisation/business which promotes social inclusion and integration. In February Sr Fogarty presented on Clann Credo's work at an event organised in conjunction with the 48th Session of the UN Commission for Social Development in the UN headquarters in New York. 

The winner will be announced on Monday, 27 September.
