Common Cents 2009

The theme of Clann Credo’s  2009 Annual Conference was Social Enterprise in a Changing Economy. The conference took place on March 26th in the Hilton Dublin Kilmainham.

Social Enterprises are powerful organisations tackling social and/or environmental needs by combining the passion ofsocialmission with the efficiency of a market-based approach.

The potential of social enterprises is still far from being fully harnessed in Ireland.  Common Cents 2009 provided a valuable platform for discussing the opportunities and supports as well as the challenges and obstacles faced by social enterprises in a changing economy.

An excellent panel of speakers and chairs was drawn from the Department of Finance, Local Partnerships, University, Philanthropic organisations and most importantly, those who are leading community & social enterprises in these difficult times

A number of Clann Credo supported groups hosted stands, giving delegates the opportunity to discuss and share ideas at first hand.

The CEO of Barnardos and columnist with RTÉ and Irish Examiner, Fergus Finlay delivered the keynote address.

Joe Little of RTÉ hosted a discussion on social enterprise in the changing economy.
