Clann Credo provides affordable loan finance to community, voluntary and charitable organisations, community businesses and social enterprises throughout Ireland (we have also supported projects in Kosovo, Slovenia, Romania and South Africa).
Our mission is "to design and promote innovative Social Finance products and services; contributing to inclusive prosperity and developing social capital in a way that benefits everyone".
From modest beginnings in 1996, which saw Clann Credo pioneer the concept of social finance in Ireland, the organisation is now the country’s best established and leading provider of social finance.
Today, more than 200 projects and €26.4 million (31 December 2009) later, Clann Credo provides loan support to organisations and communities across Ireland.
Confirmation by the then Minister for Finance (now Taoiseach) Brian Cowen TD in July 2006, of the Governments decision to establish the not-for-profit Social Finance Foundation to act as a wholesale supplier of social finance, is the culmination of many years of effort by Clann Credo to have social finance officially recognised and supported in Ireland.
